a program changed the color scheme to Windows Vista Basic and Vista didn't change back after program closed
Hi,
[edit: this is solved: the service is called "Sitzungs-Manager für Desktop-Fenstermanager" in German and attempting to start it from the services list works! Also net start uxsms, which is the cmd command, probably would have to be started from a elevated cmd, which I didn't do. Now everything is back to normal again!]
I'm using AVerTV 6 from AVerMedia. When launching this application, Vista states "The following program has performed an action that requires Windows to temporarily change the color scheme to Windows Vista Basic". Vista used to restore the standard color scheme when exiting the application.
Now Vista didn't do this and I'm stuck at the Basic color scheme as I can see from the title bar.
How can I restore the standard (Aero) color scheme?
I read something about a Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service and uxsms service but the first isn't listed in my services list and the second gives an error code "System error 5 Access denied" when trying "net start uxsms".
Also, when I want to access Desktop->Personalize->Window Color and Appearance this is empty and tells me to start the classic properties where the only Vista color scheme is the Basic color scheme. Either it is this which is applied already or applying this hasn't got any effect. I don't get my standard color scheme back!
I'm using Vista Basic x64 German, Windows Blinds 6 and the Magic Desktop Suite.
Note that despite it's Vista Basic I always had 2 Vista color scheme: a standard one with "concatenated" minimize, restore, close buttons in a windows top right corner and a basic one (when running AVerTV 6) with seperated minimze, restore, close buttons. I suppose the standard one is somewhat "Aero". Using the Magic Desktop Suite, the standard color scheme had m,r,c buttons which stuck out while the Basic schemes overall look is more boring.
So my problem is: how to restore the standard color scheme and how to make the Window Color and Appearance dialog contain its standard elements.
Thanks for any help.
